Gladys married on 22 Oct 1935 to Ernest Milton Ferrell, and they settled on Cane Fork of Loudendale. Ernest's father gave them a parcel of land there. This was where they built their house, and raised a family of three boys, and three girls.
Gladys was a generous and loving daughter, wife, Mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved to piece quilts, and the quilts she made and gave away, can be found all across the country. She loved her family unconditionally, and was always there to lend support.

We truly miss thee dear parents,
We miss thee from thy place.
A shadow o'er our life is cast,
We miss the sunshine of thy face.
We miss thy kind and willing hand,
Thy fond and earnest care.
Our home is dark withour thee-
We miss thee everywhere.~anon~
