DARIUS A. BABCOCK DIED MAY 17, 1939
Darius A. Babcock died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. N.W. Garrison with whom he had made his home for 15 yeats, at five-thirty Wednesday morning. He has been in good health, having returned Tuesday from a visit with his brother in Mendon. He was born in Kalamazoo County Feb. 11, 1847, a son of Darius and Ruth (Blodgett) Babcock.
In 1870 he was married to Olive Avery and they begaan housekeeping in Constantine and he taught school at Corey Lake for two years. They then moved to Lansing where he worked for 29 years in the secretary of state's office. In 1908 they moved to Three Rivers where he has since resided. Mrs. Babcock preceded him in death in 1927.
During his long residence in this vicinity he made a wide acquaintance and was a familiar figure about the county. He was paricularly active and enjoyed remarkably good health and his death was sudden and unexpected.
Surviving are one brother, Frank, of Mendon, four daughters, Mrs. Ora M. Ballard and Mrs. Josephine Santymer of Santa Monica, Cal., Miss Grace Babcock of Washington D.C. and Mrs. N.W. Garrison of Three Rivers. One son Frank died in 1920.
Funeral services will be held at the Balch Chapel at ten-thirty Saturday, Rev. W.J. Malcolm officiating. Burial at Riverside.
