MARGARET MARY MALIK
GONZALES - Margaret Mary Malik, 79, passed away quietly Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, in Shiner. She was born March 15, 1931, in Lavaca County, to Isidor Malik Sr. and Annie Cerny Malik. Margaret was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Gonzales and had been a member of KJZT.
Margaret had worked at various dry cleaners in the area; however from 1983 until illness prevented her from working, she had worked solely at City Cleaners in Gonzales. Those that knew Margaret will fondly recall her clever dry sense of humor and sorely miss her professionalism in customer care. Though small in stature, Margaret was a Titan in customer service and displayed a keen business acumen.
Margaret was essentially a private person; she found comfort in the surroundings of her humble home. She enjoyed polka music, the festivities of church picnics, holidays shared with family and friends, parades, 4th of July; all the simple things in life that Norman Rockwell captured in his paintings but have long been forgotten with today's fast paced society. Though she never married, she never lacked for love, all that knew Margaret loved her and all found love in return.
She is survived by her sisters, Leonita Broz of Gonzales, Georgia Sladecek and her husband Ed of Houston; brothers, Johnny Malik and his wife Sally of Alpine, Daniel Malik and his wife Carolyn of Shiner, Jerry Malik and his wife Donna, and Edward Malik of Shiner.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Louis, Isodor Jr., and Benedict Malik.
A rosary will be recited for Margaret Mary Malik will be at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home and a Christian Burial Rite will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, in the Shiner Catholic Cemetery with Fr. Bob Knippenberg as celebrant. The family will receive friends at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m.
In lieu of usual remembrances, friends may make memorials to St. James Catholic Church in Gonzales or Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Shiner.
Services are under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home in Gonzales.
