Chico Record, Tuesday, September 17, 1912 pg 4 col 4: Civil War Veteran Called By Death. F.H. Huntley Was Resident of Chico for Many Years. Frank H. Huntley, aged seventy-two years, and well known in Chico, died at his home on Main street, between Sixth and Seventh streets, at 10 o’clock Sunday night. The cause of death is given as cystitis. The deceased had been ill for some time and death was not unexpected.
Huntley was born in New York and moved to Michigan when he was fifteen years old. He lived in that State about fifty years. He served in the Seventeenth Infantry of Michigan volunteers during the war of the rebellion. About six months after he had enlisted he was disabled by a bullet wound in his right hand and returned to his home at Eaton Rapids, Michigan. He was a jeweler by profession and an expert optician. He retired from active business life shortly before coming to Chico, about eight years ago.
The deceased was a member of the G.A.R., Eastern Star and the Masons. He is survived by a son, S.S. Huntley of Los Angeles, one daughter, Mrs. Kate Adams of Kalamazoo, Michigan, one brother, Delos Huntley of Saranac, Michigan and a sister, Mrs. Julia Baker of Plainville, Michigan.
The funeral will be from the family residence at 624 Main street at 2 o’clock this afternoon. Rev. W.A. Hunter will officiate.
