Born Dec. 1, 1829 in TN (most likely Blount Co., TN) to Andrew Cowan and Esther F "Hetty" Houston. Husb. of Elizabeth Jennetta [Clingan] Cowan. F/o 3 ch.: Andrew Finis Jr. (died when about three years old), Cherokee Pocohantas Cowan (m. Riley Parham Lindsey), and Alexander Clingan Cowan.

Andrew Finis Cowan's death date is unknown.
I have a letter that he wrote to a cousin, dated Jun 6, 1907 from Wagner Co., OK (Indian Territory) ... since he'd lost an arm in the Civil War, he dictated the letter to his granddaughter Stella Cowan. So, I know he was alive in June 1907 but does not appear in the 1910 census.

I visited Wagoner and went to the historical library and a couple of city offices (dealing with burials, etc.) and funeral homes and could not find a death date for him or when a grave was opened, etc.

In the 1900 census, Andrew Finis Cowan is living in the home of his son, Alexander Clingan Cowan. Alexander is in the 1910 census in Wagoner Co., OK and in the 1920 and 1930 census in Maricopa Co., AZ

From Wagoner Co., OK court records I found that Alexander Clingan Cowan and his wife moved to Arizona. Their daughter, Georgia Hardy Cowan, died of Pulmonary Tuberculosis in Maricopa Co., AZ on October 08, 1919 and buried at Greenwood Cemetery on October 13, 1919.
So, it may be that Andrew Finis Cowan went with them and died in AZ? I find no death record for him in OK ... but none in AZ either.

If anyone is a descendant of Andrew Finis Cowan, please contact me. Someone has to know his death date and where he's buried. (He has a tombstone in Wagoner, with no death date, and no city/county record of his death. No will, etc.)
