Frank A. Abbey, 79, of 417 South Mission Street, died at a local hospital early this morning following an illness of two years. Mr. Abbey was born February 4, 1873, at Cincinnati, Ohio, and moved with his parents to Kansas City, Kansas, at the age of 12 years.

In 1896 he participated in the opening of the Cherokee Strip, later coming to Everett in 1901 where he married Mabel Wiard. He was preceded in death by Mrs. Abbey in 1913. Mr. Abbey spent two years mining in Alaska before coming to Grant County where he located near Moses Lake. He came to Wenatchee in 1919, where he had since resided.

Surviving are two sons, William Abbey of Wenatchee and Joseph Abbey of Seattle; two sisters, Mrs. John Graves of Portland and Mrs. Rosa Hale of Pomona, Calif.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held from the Jones & Jones Chapel Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Frank E. Beatty officiating. Concluding services and burial will follow in the Wenatchee Cemetery.
