James Tillotson (1853 NY-1920) was the son of * Mr and Mrs. William and Charlotte Tillotson. For some reason, I had a spelling of Sharlott, not sure if it was spelled different as sometimes happens or a typo.
*I have done a lot of research on the Tillotson family. I believe James born in 1853 was the son of William Henry and Charlotte Tillotson. In earlier census records William Henry went by just the name Henry and his wife is always Charlotte. I found them in NYS as well as PA census records. J. Henderson

His grandfather: William Henry's father was Aaron Tillotson and he is found in Coudersport in 1860 Census. J. Henderson

James had at least two sisters, Mrs. Mary Tillotson Jackson and Mrs. A. Tillotson Wiggins of Corry, PA.

In 1882, he married 18 year old Sarah Jane Lamb Tillotson (1866-1920). Their children together were: Bert A. Tillotson (April 1883-), Bertha M. Tillotson (June 1885-), James Tillotson (1886-), Elizabeth J. Tillotson (November 1887-) Skiver (Wesley J. Skiver), Charolette L Tillotson (1893-1894), George Tillotson December 1894-)and Lillian A. Tillotson (1905-1906).

Info. from FAG member Cherie Officer and Olean (NY) Evening Herald, Feb. 11, 1920 Page 2. James died due to three day illness with Pneumonia. He was survived at the time of his death by Three sons, Bert of Olean, NY., George of Allegany, NY., James Tillotson, Jr., of Portville, NY., two daughters, Mrs. R. Barnes and Mrs. Eliza Skiver of Portville, The funeral was held at his home in Main Settlement (just East of Portville, NY) on February 12, 1920.

And

James Tillotson died at his homes at Main Settlement February 10th, age 66 years following an illness of pneumonia. Mrs Tillotson preceeded him in death January 22nd also dying of pneumonia (from Typhoid Fever). (The Portville Review)

Much thanks for this wonderful history and great research, to J. Henderson his bloodline, his *gr. grandfather was brother to Aaron, great uncle to James.

*My third gr grandfather was William Tillotson and was either whole or half brother to Aaron. My third gr grandfather lived in Dryden, New York but Aaron his brother Isaac and their father Asahel lived in Steuben County. Asahel was a Revolutionary War soldier and came from Farmington, Connecticut. The name was spelled Tilison in 1830 Census records of Woodhull, NY. Aaron shows up in Census records for Woodhull Ny in 1850. He is also listed earlier in Troupsburg and Addison. In a later Census his whole family is listed in Erie Co PA . Henry and Charlotte are listed there too. My maiden name is Tillotson thus my interest in this family. I went through a lot of Census Records and if not for the name of Charlotte I may have not connected the dots. I thought I would just add this if anyone is interested.
