Evelyn Tillotson Sirmon (1911-1997) was the daughter of James Tillotson (1886-1979) and Erma Blanch Morris Tillotson (1891-1919) (her parents married on Sept 30, 1908) (Family Search-Marriages). Erma, was only 17 yrs old. Although, Evelyn's mother, Erma remarried a John B Parenteaw, when she died in 1919, she was buried as Erma Tillotson.

Evelyn had one known sibling, a sister: Olga (1910-) Tillotson Johnson, of Niagara Falls, NY. After her mother died the girls lived with their father and grandparents until they married (1920 census).

Evelyn, married Clifford Welty, and they later divorced, after having a son, Donald Lewis Welty (-2018). Donald is buried in Detroit Lakes, MN. This information was given to me by Donald's adopted son Bruce Welty-Johnson.

Evelyn, later married, Julius "Jay" W. Sirman (1899 Miss.-1/20/1961). He was a Bronze Star World War Veteran in 1945. He single handedly wiped out a Jap Machine Gun Crew and caputured their weapons. Whiloe repairing a wire line that has been cut by Japs, Sgt. Siramn wa fired on by the ememy machine gun. disregarding his safety, he attacked the position, destroying the Japs and taking the machine gun (Portvile Review, May 17, 1945).

When he passed away Julius left Evelyn $39,968. in his estate, She was listed a sole distributee. Also, Bruce, told me they no children.
I did see one daughter for him, Margurite (1926-) Sirmon (mother Lillie Sirmon). His parents were Nathan and Mary Sirmon and he had at least nine known siblings.

Eveyln is buried next to her father James Tillotson. Her interment 12 Sept. 1997.

Thanks to Bruce Welty-Johnson.
