WEST COLUMBIA — A graveside service for Bonnie Catherine Sargent, 82, will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, February 7, 2008, in Celestial Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. this Wednesday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210 or to Green Hill Baptist Church, P.O. Box 6276, West Columbia, SC 29171.
Mrs. Sargent died Monday, February 4, 2008. Born in Swansea, SC, she was a daughter of the late Perry Wade Hoffman and Minerva Elizabeth Spires Hoffman. She was a member of Green Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Sargent enjoyed hymns, listening to tapes from the church and was a very loving person.
Surviving are her sons and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Phyllis Lawson of Ninety-six and Jimmy Lawson of West Columbia; sister and brother-in-law, Dot and Foster Baughman of Swansea; brothers and sisters-in-law, Grady and Evelyn Hoffman of North and Stacy and Charlene Hoffman of Gaston; grandchildren, Bryan, Kris, Jerri LeAnn, Sandi, Tracey and Shane Lawson; also nine great-grandchildren. Mrs. Sargent was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Christine Lawson Oden.
