Golda May Cox
Iola, formerly of Elsmore, died today, Jan. 12, 1996, at Allen County Hospital at the age of 94. She was born Sept. 10, 1901,  the daughter of Jacob C. and Caroline Kent Ard. Cox taught school before her marriage and spent the remainder of her life as a homemaker. She was a member of the Elsmore United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed gardening, canning, crocheting, quilting, camping with the Comet Club and Trailhounds and work with the United Methodist Church and the Helping Hand Club. She married Lloyd W. Cox on June 7, 1922, at Caroline Ard's home in Elsmore. They made their home in Elsmore on the Cox family farm until they moved into Elsmore in 1961. The Coxes celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary last year. Her husband, Lloyd, resides at Moran Manor. Other survivors include sons Leonard W.' Edwards, Mo., William E., Wichita, and Dale L., Humboldt; daughters Louise May Mefford, Iola, and Evelyn Roberts, Osawatomie; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Elsmore United Methodist Church. The Rev. Steve Shewmake will officiate. Burial will be in Elsmore Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Kunkel Funeral Chapel in Moran. Memorial contributions to the Elsmore Methodist Church may be left with the funeral home.
