Joe S. Johnson, 79, of 613 Loomis St., died Sunday at Longmont United Hospital after a sudden illness.
He was born on Oct. 28, 1901, in Chickasha, Okla., and established Johnson's Corner in Sedalia, Lafayette, Loveland and Longmont. Mr. Johnson was a member of the board of directors of Longmont United Hospital, director of the First National Bank, Longmont, a member of the Longmont Shrine Club, El Jebel Shrine, Fort Lupton AF&AM, Colorado Consistory No. 1 and the First Congregational Church.
Mr. Johnson was a longtime supporter of Longmont United Hospital, donating thousands of dollars, allowing the hospital the flexibility to apply the money where it was most needed.
He was married to Virginia Taylor Johnson in November 1975.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth McIntyre, in May 1975.
Survivors: his wife, sons: Garry Floyd Johnson, Chauncey Taylor Johnson, Thayne Taylor; sisters: Ruth McKnight, and Pearl Christiansen and several nieces and nephews.
Contributions may be made to Longmont United Hospital or to the Shriner's Crippled Children's Fund, care of Howe Mortuary.
