Clarice Marie Archer Neighbors, "Bridgie," born February 2, 1924 in Longmont, Colorado at what was then The St. Vrain Hospital on 5th and Collyer St. She was raised in rural Boulder County and attended Niwot Elementary and graduated from Longmont High School in 1941. Bridgie worked at Mtn Bell Telephone Company and travelled to El Paso, Texas. During WWII she was transferred to Tuscon, AZ and then to CA. In California she also worked for the Douglas Aircraft Co.
She married Oliver Jones in 1944 and was later divorced. She moved back to Colorado and worked for Dr. H. Gorder DDS. She then married Vance Neighbors in 1951. Vance preceded her in death on December 7, 1994.
Clarice taught art at St John the Baptist elementary school for 10 years. A portrait artist, she studied under Madam Marianna Pisko Hausmann of Denver CO and Vienna Austria. She also took classes at the University of Colorado with Charles A Qualley, MFA and Frank Sampson. Clarice was a former member of the Colorado Artists Association, The Denver Artists Guild and American Society of Portrait Artists. She studied at workshops with Everett Raymond Kinstler and Richard Schmid. She was a part of the Cornerstone and Muse Galleries and was a member of the Longmont Artists Guild and the Council of the Arts. In 1980 Bridgie went to work for The Geological Society of America in Boulder and retired in 1990.
She also served on the Council of Catholic Women and was president of the Alter and Rosary Society at St. Johns.
Bridgie is survived by her sons, Scott (Barbara) Neighbors of Texas, Greg (Linda) Neighbors of Erie and Jay (Stephanie McGovern) Neighbors of Loveland; daughter, Betsy (Tim) Sandoval of Frederick; grandchildren, Tucker (Julie) Neighbors, Toby Neighbors, Tara (Richard) Taylor, Tessa Neighbors, Matthew (Megan) Lang, Travis (Mallorie) Lang, Lorelei Neighbors, Madison Neighbors Mallorie (Tal) McLir, Ben McGovern, Tadeas (Mary Cutler) Sandoval, Talia (Jesse) Fredericks and T.J. (Drew) Sandoval; great grandchildren, Fletcher Neighbors, Everett Neighbors, Grayson Neighbors, Emerson Lang, Elery Lang, Walker Lang, Weston Lang, Teagan McLir, Rain McLir, Rowan McLir, Soren McLir, Jubal Fredericks, Ian Taylor and Gemma Taylor.
In addition to her husband, Bridgie was preceded in death by her four brothers and three sisters.
