He was born Feb. 4, 1915, in Jonesboro, IL. Mr. Blevins was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Granite City, retired in 1980 as owner and operator of B&E Lumber and Hardware in Madison after 53 years of service; served as an alderman in Granite City; and was a member of Eagles Lodge # 1126 and of the Carpenters Local.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Stephens of Belleville and Judy (Max) Mills of Payson, Ariz; one son-in-law, Ron Dillard of Granite City; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita F. (Elmore) Blevins; one daughter, Jackie Dillard; step-mother, Opal (Gruvier) Blevens; his parents, Robert W. and Minnie (Stroud) Blevins; one sister, Mary Jo Paulett; three brothers, Howard Blevins, Warren Blevins and Virgil Blevins; and one son-in-law, Larry Stephens.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, June 1, at St. John Cemetery (Nameoki Road) in Granite City with the Rev. Lisa Guiiams officiating.
Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City handled the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
