Emily Gertrude Fortenberry, 96, of Pascagoula died August 10, 2006 in Mercy Medical Hospital in Daphne, Alabama. Gertrude was a native of Columbia, MS and had lived in Pascagoula for over 50 years.She was the daughter of Elvin Lee and Bazelia Manning Boyd.
She was a member of Eastlawn Methodist Church since 1953 and was very active as long as her health permitted.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis B. Fortenberry; son, Charles and an infant daughter; five sisters and three brothers.
She is survived by her daugher, Barbara Ann (Jerry) Hudson, of Theodore, AL; son, Bobby J. (Bobbie) Fortenberry, of Spanish Fort, AL; five grandchildren, Curtis (Chris) Fortenberry, North Pole, Alaska; Kay (Steve) Webb, Covington, LA; Michael (Tammy) Hudson, Rex (Diana) Hudson; both of Theodore, AL; Roy (Deena) Hudson, of Mobile, AL; 10 great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Mrs. Toxie Holmes and Mrs. Z.A. Lambert of Pascagoula, MS; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, Aug. 14, 2006, 9:00-11:00m, at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home,Pascagoula, MS.
Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Jackson officiating.
Interment will follow at Jackson County Memorial Park, Pascagoula, MS. Pallbearers will be Mike Hudson, Rex Hudson, Roy Hudson, Steve Webb, Lee Foxx and Mac Reid.
