Cecil F. Anders, 74, of Asheville, died Saturday, March 3, 2001 at the Hospice Solace Center.
A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Fred and Lela Mahaffey Anders. He was also preceded in death by his first wife Betty Hawkins Anders who died in 1991, a son, Jeff Anders in 1984, and a brother, Rev. Oder Anders, in 1998. He was a US Army Air Corps veteran of WW II and a retired employee of Blalock Lumber Company. Mr. Anders was a member of Turkey Creek Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and Sunday School teacher for 25 years.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Boyd Anders; a daughter, Carolyn Fox and her husband Charles and two grandchidlren, Stephen Fox and Timothy Fox, all of Leicester.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday at Turkey Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Joe Babb, Gordon Ball, and Bill Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Deacons of the church and J.G. Fox will be active pallbearers and the Adult Sunday School Class, Dr. William Snoddy, and C.J. Hunter will be honorary pallbearers.

His family will receive friends 7-8:30 Monday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue, where the body will remain until being placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
