Barbara Shultz, was born in Millersburg, Ohio, on May 19, 1840, and died at the home of her son, A. E. McAlister (Archer Edwin McAlister) in Milan, MO, on March 28, 1925, aged 84 years, 10 months, and nine days.
The deceased came to Milan, MO, in 1869, and was united in marriage with John R. McAlister in August 1869, to which union eight children were born, five of whom are living. Her husband died on Feb. 8, 1919.
The surviving children, Mary (Bodenheimer) Ward, Joe McAlister, Maud (McAlister) Guthrey, Harvey McAlister and A. E. McAlister. Mrs. McAlister was the last survivor of a family of twelve children. She joined the Christian Union Church in early life and was transferred to the Baptist church about twenty years ago.
For the past six months, she has been ill with stomach trouble which was the immediate cause of her death but she was patient during her long suffering.
The deceased is also survived by 33 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
remains were laid to rest Monday,in Oakwood Cemetery.
