Arthur Begier was born on March 11th, 1921 in Dunkirk, New York the son of Edward and Mary Begier. He enlisted in service to his country on September 16th, 1942 and became a member of the 507th PIR Company I achieving the rank of Sergeant. He was awarded the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster for wounds received during his service. He was separated from service on October 11th, 1945 at Fort Dix New Jersey.
In his later years he worked as a Plant Manager for Roblin Steel in his home town of Dunkirk, New York. He was also an avid speed boat racer winning many matches on Lake Erie and other surrounding bodies of water. His trophy collection from his races was quite large.
He was always extremely proud of being a paratrooper and loved attending the various reunions with his wife Mary. Arthur Begier passed away peacefully on May 26th, 1986 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He is interred in St. Mary's cemetery in Dunkirk, New York.
He is survived by his five children and many many grandchildren.
