Here is some information regarding his World War II service .....

• PFC Vernon Lewis entered service in June 1942

• Twenty months of his three years in uniform were spent overseas in the Asiatic Theater

• He wore three Battle Stars for participating in battles on Saipan, Tinian, and Iwo Jima as a field radio operator

• He was discharged on Saturday, November 3, 1945
