Rosemary Louise Rhoades Corbett, 85, of 213 E. Woodland Ave., died at 7:30 am Oct. 27, 2010, at Serenity Hospice House in Oskaloosa.

She was born Nov. 29, 1924, in Montana to Charles and Rose Freiberg Rhoades. She married Kenneth L. Corbett on July 7, 1946. He preceded her in death Oct. 28, 2005.

She taught school in the Ottumwa Schools in 1946-47 and then from 1954 until she retired in 1987. The majority of those years were spent teaching physical education at Washington Junior High School. She was a member of First Christian Church. After retirement she was very active in Friends of the Library and also the Ottumwa League of Women Voters.

Surviving are a daughter, Tana J. Corbett of Ottumwa; and a son, Rick L. (Mari-Kay) Corbett of Oskaloosa; a granddaughter, Sara(Shawn)Cross and a grandson, David Corbett, both of Oskaloosa; two great-grandsons, De'Shawn and Deon'tae Cross; and a nephew, Brian Rhoades of Thailand.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Rhoades.

Graveside services and burial will be 2pm Friday at Cedar Township Cemetery north of Fremont with Rev. Gary Sneller officiating. Visitation will begin after 1pm Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 5-7pm Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Christian Church or Ottumwa Public Library.
