Alice LaRue Aukes-Keller, 91, Luverne, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne.

Funeral services were Saturday, Oct. 23, at the American Reformed Church in Luverne. Burial followed at Eastside Cemetery near Steen.

Alice Dunn was born April 14, 1919, to Bertrand and Jennie (Ware) Dunn in Whitetail, Mont. Her family moved to Northwest Iowa where she was raised and attended school.

On July 7, 1937, she married Harvey Aukes at the family farm west of Steen. The couple farmed in Southwest Minnesota and then moved to an acreage near Ash Creek in 1967. Mr. Aukes died in 1979. She continued to live on the acreage after her husband's death.

On Sept. 1, 1990, she married Fred Keller in May City, Iowa. They lived on the acreage until 2005, when she moved to the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne. Mr. Keller died in August 2005.

She was a former member of Steen Evangelical United Brethren Church and Stateline Presbyterian Church. She was a current member of the American Reformed Church in Luverne, where she was involved in her local circle. She was a member of the Auxiliary and Extension clubs and volunteered at the Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D., and the Veterans Home in Luverne for 22 years. She enjoyed music, quilting, gardening and tending to her flowers.

Mrs. Aukes-Keller is survived by four children, Martha Bertelsen, Chadron, Neb., Larona Elbers, Steen, Harriet (Dennis) Manning, Des Moines, Iowa, and Harley (Marlene) Aukes, Steen; one stepson, Rodney (Karen) Keller, Hartley, Iowa; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis Anderson, Ames, Iowa, and Faye Wyum, Rochester; four sisters-in-law, Emma Jean Peterson, Sioux Center, Iowa, Bernice Aukes, Steen, Verla Baker, Luverne, and Vera (Con) Rozeboom, Murdock; several nieces and nephews; and special friend Gladys Van Wettering.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands, Harvey Aukes and Fred Keller; a grandson, Brian Manning; four brothers, Orville, Gerald, Raymond and Charles Dunn; two sisters, Marian Jorgensen and Esther Sanderson; and two sons-in-law, Gary Bertelson and James Elbers.
