Rites At Cyril For Former Resident

Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Johnson, former resident of the district south of town, died at Lamesa, Texas Thursday and funeral services were held at Cyril at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Fowler was in charge of the service at the Baptist church and burial was made in the Cyril cemetery. She had been ill about ten days.

Mrs. Johnson came with her family from Texas to Oklahoma in 1917 and located south of Carnegie; she later lived at Edmond, Cement and Cyril.

Sarah Elizabeth Kennedy was born in Meigs county, Tenn., May 11, 1878. She was united in marriage to Columbus Johnson and to them 12 children were born. A daughter, Essie, died in 1898, and Mr. Johnson died in 1916. All the others were present except a son in the Navy. She united with the Baptist church at the age of 11.

Survivors are the children including: Oscar Johnson, Waurika; Joe Johnson, Lamesa, Texas; Doris, San Diego, Calif.; Terrell Johnson, Santa Monica, Calif.; Eugene Johnson, W.U. Navy; J.B. Johnson, Riverside, Calif.; Mrs. Archie Mercer, Kress, Texas; Mrs. Eva Purvis, Anadarko; Mrs. Julia Sewell and Mrs. Bell Walker, Cyril'; Mrs. Winona Long, Freer, Texas. Also a brother, five sisters, 26 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. M.G. Eaton and Mrs. Willis Wilson of south of town attended the service at Cyril.
