Raymond C. Bond, mechanic and kennel owner, dies at 65

Raymond C. Bond, 65, a lifetime resident of Eugene and a longtime mechanic, died July 4.

Bond, who lived all of his life on his great-grandfather's farm at 2083 Airport Road, was born in Eugene on April 21, 1919. For several decades, he and his father, Sam, operated the Sam C. and Ray Bond automotive garage at the corner of West Fourth Avenue and Blair Street.

When the garage closed, Bond started the Bondale Kennels with his wife, Marjorie Bond, whom he married in 1941 in Seattle. Marjorie Bond continues to run the kennels at their property on Airport Road.

Other survivors include a son, John L. Bond of Roseburg; a daughter, Susan Rae Meador, of Corvallus, and three grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday in West Lawn Memorial Park, Eugene. England's Eugene Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

BOND - Raymond C. Bond of 29083 Airport Road, Eugene, died July 4, 1984, at the age of 65. He was born April 21, 1919 in Eugene, Oregon. On November 8, 1941 he was married to Marjorie Kernan in Seattle, Washington. He was a lifetime resident of Eugene and owned Bondale Kennels. He had a partnership with his father in Sam C. and Ray Bond Garage. He was a lifetime member in both the Masonic Lodge, Eugene, and Eugene Kennel Club. He was also a member of the Shriners Club in Eugene. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; a son, John L. Bond of Roseburg; a daughter, his daughter, Susan Rae Meador, of Corvallus, 3 grandchildren. Funeral service will be Monday, July 9, at 10 a.m. at Westlawn Memorial Park with Reverend Harcrow officiating. Contributions may be made to the Easter Seal Foundation. ENGLAND'S EUGENE MEMORIAL CHAPEL in charge of arrangements.
