She was named for her paternal grandmother Elizabeth Howard (1736-1782). About 1796 Elizabeth, about age 3, with her parents and younger brother, Jesse Carter Farrar, moved from Halifax Co. Virginia to Greenville Co. South Carolina. Elizabeth's family moved to Georgia in the early nineteenth century to participate in land lotteries.
She married SANFORD GORHAM on May 7, 1807 in Franklin Co., Georgia.
She died on February 20, 1877 in Powder Springs, Cobb Co., Georgia.
