PIONEER WOMAN DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS
Mrs. Helpa Norquay, one of Arizona's old timers passed away at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. R. S. West of this city at 3:30 p.m. Mrs. Norquay was born at Berksville, Cumberland County, Kentucky, April 16, 1853. Came to Colorado 1879. In 1893 she went to British Columbia. Leaving there she came to Clifton in March 1896. She went to Globe in July 1899 and from there to Colorado where she resided from April 1900 until May 1904.
Returning to Clifton in 1904 she took charge of the Manilla Hotel which she run until 1907.
In 1908 she opened the Cottage Hotel in Clifton which she ran until 1913, when she went to Miami living there until July 1921, when she went to California for a trip.
She returned to Miami in March and disposed of her property there hoping to regain her health she went with her husband to the 10 ranch where he is mining, but became sick on June 1st. She came down to a lower altitude on June 7th.
Mrs. Norquay leaves a host of friends in Arizona who will be sorry to learn of her passing away.
Mrs. Norquay leaves two brothers and her husband.
One brother, W. A. Carver , resides in Phoenix, the other brother, James lives at Aspin, Colorado.
