Joe Kennis, 57, of Dycusburg, died December 12, 2006, at Crittenden Hospital. He was a correctional officer for the Kentucky State Penitentiary, a U.S. Navy veteran serving in Vietnam, and a member of Frances Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Wanda; two sons, John Allen Kinnis of Smyrna, Tenn., and Tony Freeman Kinnis of Sunnyvale, Calif.; two brothers, Stan Kinnis of Kuttawa and Mike Kinnis of Eddyville; a sister, Betty Hooks of Eddyville; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marcella Ann Grimes Kinnis; and his parents, Freeman Kinnis and Dorothy Loretta Perryman Kinnis.

Services were Dec. 15 at Lakeland Funeral Home in Eddyville with Rev. Lonnie Knight and Rev. Roger Waters officiating. Burial was in Dycusburg Cemetery.
