Mr. Crawford was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Seymour and a World War I veteran of the U.S. Navy where he held the rank of chief petty officer.
He was formerly Indiana branch manager for the Chicago Wood Piling Co., spending much of his life in the timber business. While living in Indianapolis he worked at Allisons. He developed Crawfords subdivision one and two in Seymour.
After retiring he maintained his hobby of upholstering, canning, clockmaking and repair.
Born August 17, 1896, in Iroquois County, Illinois, he was the son of Robert and Nellie Eastburn Crawford. He married Julia E. Polas on Feb 19, 1919, in Indianapolis.
Mr. Crawford is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Joseph W. (Lucille) Baurlie of Seymour amd Mrs. Louis F.(Mary Helen) Keen of Carmel and 16 grandcholdren, 27 greatgrand children and three great-greatgrand children.
He was preceded in death by his wife, a son, Lt. Fred A Crawford; and two brothers and a sister.
The Rev. Joseph Sheets will conduct services at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Catholic Cemetery in Seymour. A military graveside service will be conducted.
