Amanda Whorton Cavner, 29, 0f Dardanelle, AR, went to rest in the arms of Jesus Thursday, October 21, 2010.

The daughter of Gerry Whorton and Frances Meyers, she was born May 5, 1981 in Russellville, AR.

She was a cheerleader at Dardanelle for seven years and was the co-founder of the pee-wee Stepper program. Amanda was an award winning clarinetist. She graduated from Dardanelle High School in 1999 with highest honors. She graduated with a BSN from Arkansas Tech University and was a member of Sigma Theta Tau International. After graduation Amanda worked at Baptist Medical Center and Arkansas Oncology Associates in Little Rock, Arkansas. Later she went to work for Yell County Home Health. She was a member of the East Point Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing basketball and softball. Caring for her oncology patients was her passion. Amanda was a gifted singer who loved singing praises to our Lord.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Ollison Ford; Gramdma Brucks; Uncle Sonny Vinson and "Lil Sis" Christina Stinnett.

She is survived by her mother Frances Myers of Dardanelle; father Gerry Whorton of Russellville; two sisters Melissa Whorton of Dardanelle, Hannah Cobb of Russellville; four brothers Haden Whorton of Russellville, Darren, Daniel, and Brandon Jackson all of Conway; matrnal grandmother, Wilma Ford of Russellville, paternal grandparents Vernon and Wynona Whorton of Russellville, great paternal grandmother Elsie Whorton of London, a host of loving aunts, uncle, cousins, and friends, Cotton and Chopper her beloved dogs "her babies."

Funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 28, 2010 at East Point Baptist Church. Reverend Aaron Davis and Reverend Larry Pless will officiate. Burial will be at East Point Cemetery in Russellville, AR by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
