Abigail Sawin was born on January 24, 1724/25, the daughter of John and Joanna (Lyon) Sawin. On May 29, 1744 Abigail married John Bacon (1721-1775) in Needham (later Natick), Middlesex County, Massachusetts. John and Abigail had eleven children: John, Abigail, Timothy, Moses, David, Jonathan, Mary, David, Hezekial, Rebecca and Hannah.

Lt. John Bacon, a Minute Man in Needham, answered the alarm of April 19, 1775 for the Battle of Lexington and Concord. Lt. John Bacon died in Menotomy, shot in the chest, during the British army retreat back to Boston.

On April 18, 1780, Abigail married Capt. Timothy Smith in Natick.

Abigail's husband Capt. Timothy Smith died in Natick on July 1, 1803. Abigail died in Natick on November 25, 1810 at the age of 85.
