Wellington F. Helps Old Time Resident Of Golden, Succumbs
Wellington Franklin Helps, who had resided in and near Golden for about sixty years, died at his home in the Pleasant View district at 3:30 a.m. Monday, May 20, after an illness of a heart ailment and complications which extended over two years. He suffered a paralytic stroke last Thursday from which he failed to recover. Mr Helps was born in Ontario, Canada, December 10, 1876. From Canada he moved with his parents the late James A. and Mary Helps to Kansas, where they lived for about a year before coming to Colorado. He had since resided in this state, and after completing his education in the Golden schools, he was engaged in mining and farming for many years, until he became partially blind about nineteen years ago. He had been totally blind for ten years. He is survived by a brother, Dave Helps of Golden: two sisters. Mrs. A. F Richards of Tacoma, Wash., and Mrs. John Milton of Los Angeles, Calif. Funeral services will be held from the Woods Mortuary chapel at 2:30 p m.. Saturday. May 25, with Rev J F. Starr, pastor of the Baptist church officiating. Interment will be in Golden cemetery. The pallbearers will be Jasper Dillon, Roy Critchfield, Pete Cody, John Miller, Al Gruber, Jack Terwilliger.
