Son of James Boston & Biddy Slinker. He married Mary Helm on Feb. 13, 1853 north of Green River in Hart Co. KY. Between 1858 & 1860 they moved from KY to Greene Co., MO. Reuben was in the Civil War, Co. A, 24 MO Inf.

Reuben married Ellen Watts in Taney County, Missouri, in 1882. This information is found in his probate records. Two sons, Alfred and Henry, were born in Missouri. It appears that Ellen and the boys moved to Washington, and Reuben moved to Oklahoma near his brother George. Reuben began divorce proceedings against Ellen, but died before the divorce was finalized. The probate records contain some interesting reading of the legal fight between Ellen and George. Ellen and the boys lived in Washington until their deaths. Ellen married Frank Gilkey in 1900.
