Mildred Marie McCurdy McLain (1918-2010)

SHERMAN - Services for Mildred Marie McCurdy McLain, 92, will be held Monday, October 25, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Crutchfield Heights Baptist Church. Rev. Houston Garner of Hebron Baptist Church and Johnny Parnell of Crutchfield Height Baptist Church will officiate. Pallbearers will be Danny Maples, Bobby Taylor, James Taylor, Joe McCurdy, Travis Jones, Aubrey Jones, Jerry Caylor and Jerry Maples. Mrs. McLain passed away Friday, October 22, 2010 at her daughter's residence in Dallas. Burial will follow at the Whitewright City Cemetery. Waldo Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Marie was born at Dierks, Ark. on March 11, 1918 to Charlie and Laura (Clifford) Compton. She married Alfred McCurdy July 28, 1933 in Boswell, Okla. Alfred passed away February 14, 1962. On September 14, 1966, Marie married Jasper Keller McLain in Sherman. He preceded her in death November 7, 1987.
Marie was a member of Crutchfield Height Baptist Church. She worked as a nurse at Wilson N. Jones Hospital for 15 years. She loved fishing and going to the lake.

Preceded in death by her parents, both husbands and son George McCurdy, she is survived by her sons, Douglas McCurdy and wife Nancy of Carrollton and Alfred "Scooter" McCurdy and wife Brenda of San Angelo; daughters, Louise Tidwell of Dallas and Nelda Ayres and husband Jack of Austin; stepdaughters, Betty Taylor and husband Billy Mac of Dorchester and Peggy Blue and husband Doyle of Gunter; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren as well as many dearly loved nieces, nephews, her extended family and a multitude of friends.
Visitation will be from 4 - 6 p.m. Sunday at Waldo Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Crutchfield Heights Baptist Church, 600 S. Dewey, Sherman, TX 75090.
