I am William Hayes Shackelford and am providing the following information from family trees, various genealogical records I have found and family information passed down to me. Charles Thomas Duncan and Nancy Eller (or Eler) (maiden name: Poe) Duncan were my great-great grandparents (my mother's mother's mother's parents).
Charles Thomas Duncan and Nancy Eller (Poe) Duncan had 6 children:
Odessa Mae Duncan, Charles Arnold Duncan, Pearl Evelyn Duncan, Ruth Duncan, Ruby Duncan, Opal May Duncan.
Note that sometimes you may find the spelling of Odessa May, but it was actually Odessa Mae.
Her younger sister, however, apparently did spell her middle name May (Opal May).
Ruth and Ruby were twins. Ruby died at the age of 4.
Note also the name of Nancy Eller (Poe) Duncan.
Some records show Ellen. Others show Eller. Others show Eler.
There is a document where in cursive there are clearly two l's, but it is hard to make out whether there is an r or an n on the end.
She went by Eler and that is what is on her gravestone.
Also, the gravestone says Charlie, rather than Charles.
