Father of: twins: EH and HE (b. Sep 1871; EH d. May 1872; HE d. July 1872); Daughter (stillborn: March 1876); and Franklin L (1873-1930).
Herbert Edwin Simpson was born in Wabash County, Indiana, July 12, 1848, and was married to Sophronia Shaffer, December 18, 1870. He died November 13, 1916.
To this union were born four children three of them dying in infancy. He leaves a wife, one son, five grandchildren, on brother and two sisters to mourn his death. The brother living at North Chicago, a sister at Hebron, Nebraska, a sister at University Place, Nebraska, who was at his bedside at the time of his death.
He was a member of the Christian Church and of the Oberlin I.O.O.F. Lodge No 158. He was also a member of the G.A.R. Post of Oberlin. During the Civil War he served with Company A 104th Illinois Infantry.
