Born 1848 in Princeton, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, to parents, John Shaffer and Hannah Johnston. Died 7 Oct 1937 in New Castle (per PA DC) but also reported at Mahoningtown, Lawrence, Pennsylvania

Married Charles H EVANS (Civil War Veteran); they were the parents of:
Minnie EVANS (1868-1938); m. Henshaw
Harry L EVANS (1881-1943)

Mrs. Hannah Shaffer Evans from the New Castle News, Oct. 7, 1937:

"Mrs. Hannah Shaffer Evans, one of Mahoningtown's most highly respected residents, member of an old Lawrence county family, passed away at 12:30 a.m. today at the home of her son, Harry L. Evans., 315 West Madison Avenue, where she had lived for years.

On the 16th of this month she would have been 89 years old. She was born in 1848 at Princeton, the daughter of John and Hannah Johnson (sic) Shaffer, and all her long lifetime was passed in Lawrence county, where she had an unusually large number of friends.

Her husband was the late Charles H. Evans.

Her son, one daughter, Mrs. Minnie Henshaw, of New Castle, three granddaughters, Mrs. Richard E. Gwilym, Miss Lila V. Henshaw and Mrs. J. F. Megan, three great-grandchildren and one brother, W. B. Shaffer, of Oil City survive.

She was a member of the Mahoningtown Presbyterian church and Rev. D. C. Schnebly, the pastor will have charge of the funeral services to be conducted at the West Madison avenue residence of the Evans family Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Interment will be made in Oak Park Cemetery."

NOTE: PA DC has birth year of 1845 but age of 88. Census and family records consistent with headstone year of 1848.
