BURNETT, DR. CHARLES CURTIS, JR. - age 72, of Knoxville, died at home Thursday, August 26, 2010. Retired United Methodist Minister with 53 years of service. Graduate of Hiwassee Jr. College, Tennessee Wesleyan College, Candler School of Theology at Emory University and Columbia Presbyterian Seminary in Atlanta, GA. Preceded in death by parents, Curtis and Bessie Burnett and stepfather, Richard Sharpton; Survived by wife of 52 years, Judy Roudebush Burnett; son, Wes Burnett and Dr. Lisa Garren; daughter, Dr. Jill Burnett Dickerson; son-in-law, Clinton Dickerson; brother, Calvin Burnett and Gail Sharp; step-brothers, Allan and Bob Sharpton; grandchildren, Andrew and Rebekah Dickerson; mother-in-law, Ola Mae Roudebush; nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends, Sunday, August 29, 2010, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Church Street United Methodist Church, followed by a memorial service at 4:00 p.m., Dr. Albert Bowles, Rev. Jack Brown and Rev. David Lovelace officiating. Burial will be Monday, August 30, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. in the Booth Memorial Cemetery in Wytheville, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Church Street United Methodist, 900 Henley Street, Knoxville, TN 37902 or Caledonia Presbyterian Church, 7817 Ruggles Ferry Pike, Knoxville, TN 37924. Pallbearers are Wes Burnett, Jerry Burnett, Calvin Burnett, Keith Burnett, Bill Moore, Armistead Smith, Bill Hill and Ed Stallings.
