Uncle Billy, as he was affectionately known to his hosts of friends, was past his 84th year, and had been ill for some time and the end was not unexpected.
He had been a devout christian for many years, having spent most of his life as a member of the Church of Christ, and was loved and respected as a father by all who were privileged to have known him.
He was twice married, both of his companions having preceeded him in death. He is survived by four sons, Elisha, Wilson, Elmer and Wesley Smith. One brother Sewel Smith also survives in Arkansas, also three sisters; Mrs W.A. Sisco and R.W. Dabbs in this city and Mrs Tact Tatum of Flatwoods.
