Elizabeth Engle, born 9 Apr 1798 in Virginia, was the daughter of Mathias and Barbara (Unknown) Engle. She was first married to Lawrence Teats, born May 1792 in New Jersey, of Ross County, Ohio. They had six children. Lawrence died 29 May 1833 and is buried in Adelphi, Ross County, Ohio. Elizabeth married second to George White, born in Kentucky about 1788, on 11 Dec 1838, recorded in the Ross County Ohio Marriage Records at Chillicothe, Ohio. Elizabeth and George White had two daughters: Barbary Ann, born approximately 16 May 1840 and died 27 Oct 1842, age 2 yrs 5 mo 12 days and is also buried in the Eagle Creek Cemetery. The other daughter, Lucinda White, was born 20 Dec 1842. Prior to 1863 Elizabeth married a man named Crist or Christ, for in the will of her son Jesse Teats of Switzerland County, Indiana, dated 12 Jan 1864, he bequeaths "to my mother Elizabeth Christ, the sum of thirty dollars per annum during her natural life."
