Rex Armstrong

CHURCH HILL - Rex Armstrong, 67, passed away Sunday (May 22, 2005) at his residence following a brief illness.

Mr. Armstrong was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and was a retired employee of AFG Industries, Hawkins County plant.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Gail Armstrong; his parents, Oscar Maynard and Ebbie Reed Armstrong; and one brother, Wiley "Buddy" Armstrong.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Lee Armstrong, Church Hill; one daughter, Donna Hickman, Church Hill; one grandson, Josh Hickman; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Evelyn Armstrong, Mack Armstrong, Wayne and Sherry Armstrong, all of Church Hill, Robert and Carol Armstrong, Glen and Charlene Armstrong, all of Kingsport; sisters, Grace Jeffers, Church Hill, Joan Amis, Surgoinsville, Peggy Broyles, Jonesborough, Joyce Brickey, Fredricksburg, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home, Church Hill, and anytime at the residence.

Services will be conducted today at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Mike Cutshaw officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Elm Springs Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

The family requests those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Church Hill Rescue Squad.
