An obituary published in the Shelbyville Democrat on March 30, 1916 for Mrs. Anna Marie Bauer, widow of the late Christoph Bauer, stated she had died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Andy Jackson, about six miles west of Shelbyville. She was almost 86 years old. Anna Maria Trick was born August 14, 1830 in Breitenau, Wurttemberg, Germany. She was one of a family of six children and was the last surviving member. She came to America in 1864, and after living near Wabash, Ind. for a year, moved to Pana, where she worked for a year. She was married to Christoph Bauer in Rural township on the 13th of April, 1866, the Rev. Mr. Galster officiating. Mr. Bauer and his bride moved to the Bauer homestead in Rose township, where the former died January 11, 1895, and where his widow continued to reside until the last nine years when she had been living with her daughter, Mrs. Jackson. From her youth, she had been a member of the Lutheran Church. She was survived by three children, three step-children, twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild. The children were: John, Christine [Mrs. Wade Hampton] and Sarah [Mrs. Andy Jackson] all of Rose township. The stepchildren were: Mrs. John Kimiel of Rose, Mrs. Mary Shumaker and George Bauer of Cherryvale, Kansas. Funeral services were held from the Jackson family home and St. John's Lutheran Church.
