Mary was known as Mollie. Mollie's parents were Berry and Elmina Ware Bagwell of Haywood Valley in Chattooga County, Georgia. Berry Bagwell was born December 28, 1822 in Laurens County, South Carolina, and died May 13, 1906 in Floyd County, Georgia. Elmina or Elminer was born Oct 17, 1831 in Georgia and died November 24, 1895 in Dirt Town, Chattooga County, Georgia.
Mollie married John Lindsey Anderson Scoggin in 1880 in Chattooga County. Mollie and John had five children: Sally, Berry Jackson "Jackie", William Henry "Willie", Mary Jane and John Franklin "Frank." Mollie died and was reported to be buried next to her mother at Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery at Gore, Chattooga County, Georgia.
The 1880 Census shows a tic mark in the column "married within the year" which fixes the marriage year of Mary Molly Frances Bagwell and John Lindsey Anderson Scoggin/s.
The name Scoggin was alternately spelled Scogin, Scoggin and Scoggins. On her tombstone, her name is Mary F. Scogin.
