Fred Ezra Slagenweit, 51, of 306 Margaret Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland, died at 11:40 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, 1974, at the T. H. S. Hospital in Baltimore after a brief illness.
He was born at Martinsburg, May 1, 1923, the son of David A. and Cora (Shaffer) Slagenweit.
He was married to the former Thelma [Velma] Geska, who survives along with these five children: Mrs. Judy DeSanto, Lucas, Ohio; Mrs. Sylvia Sellers and Fred, both of Baltimore, Maryland; and Dwight and Andrew, at home.
These sisters and brothers, Mrs. Ada Clapper, New Castle; Paul, New Enterprise; Rev. Andrew, of Greencastle; Mrs. Kathryn Miller, Woodbury; Mrs. Dorcas Climenhaga, Mappanee, Indiana; and Mark, of Martinsburg; also survive along with four grandchildren.
Mr. Slagenweit was a member of the Edgemere Free Methodist Church of Baltimore, a garage repairman and a veteran of World War II.
Funeral services: Saturday, June 1, at 10 a.m. at the Edgemere Free Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Browne, officiating. Burial in the Garden of Faith Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the John G. Connelly Funeral Home, 300 Mace Avenue, Essex, Maryland from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church.
