The Marshall Mountain Wave
Marshall, Arkansas
July 20, 1893, p. 2, c. 2
We regret very much that we failed to mention the death of Mrs. Ben Bratton last week. The omission was unintentionally, but owing to great disadvantages under which we were placed by disappointments [sic]. Mrs. Bratton was 76 years old, came to this country with her husband, Benjamin Bratton in a very early day. She leaves many friends and relatives and an aged husband to mourn her departure.

The Mountain Wave, July 12, 1893
By request of the bereaved husband, uncle Benjamin Bratton, the funeral of Aunt Laura Bratton will be preached at Hopewell church in Wiley's Cove, on the second Sunday in August, by Elds. A.R. Stephenson and T.L. Thompson. By her death we feel that society has lost an earnest worker, the family a dutiful companion and an affectionate mother and the church a devoted Christian.
