Robert Q. Arnold Jr., 83, of rural Vernon, died on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Centralia. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Day Funeral Home in Patoka, with the Rev. Bill Price officiating. Burial will be in Patoka Cemetery, with military rites accorded by American Legion Post No. 543 of Patoka. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday and from 8 a.m. until time of services on Saturday, both at the funeral home. Memorials: Marshall Creek Baptist Church Building Fund or wishes of the Arnold family fund.

Mr. Arnold was born on Sept. 12, 1927, in Patoka, the son of Robert Q. Sr. and Frances Thalman Arnold. He married Helen L. Ward on June 28, 1979.

He is survived by his wife; children, Doug Arnold and his wife Diane of Odin, John Arnold and his wife Tonya of Salem, Diana and her husband Jack Sechrest of Belleville, Cheryl and her husband Robert Thomas of Robinsville, N.C., Cindy and her husband Glen Anspach of Salem, and Carla Stransky and her fiancée George Pontious of Salem; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
