The daughter of Colonel James W. Walker married Charles Yates in 1844. When he changed his name to Aglionby in 1854, her name changed as well. She and Charles made Mount Pleasant Farm near Charles Town their home and raised a large family there. As a girl she attended a school at Cleveland, the home of Ambrose Madison, in Orange County, Virginia. Some of her Civil War era letters are archived at Duke University.
