Samuel is a son of Samuel Wood and Rebeckah Morton. He is a brother of Deacon Ephraim Wood.

Samuel married Elizabeth Smith on 13 December 1716 in Rehoboth, Bristol county, Province of Massachusetts Bay. They had children, including:
Elizabeth - 1 December 1717
Ichabod - 13 July 1719
Joshua - 12 March 1720
Anne - 15 February 1722
Nathaniel - 18 April 1725


Samuel married Sarah (Thomas) Howland on 7 August 1730 (v1,p47). Sarah was the widow of Isaac Howland.

Samuel joined the Church in 4 March 1718. He was chosen Deacon on 30 Jan 1735 and was ordained Deacon on 5 March 1737.

Samuel was a Selectmen of Middleborough in 1744 and Representative to the General Court in 1744 and 1745.

Samuel's date of death is not known. He died between 1746 and 1754. (As noted on the monument).
