GALEN WALTER WADE
SALEM-Galen Walter Wade, 84, a native of Floyd, a faithful and loving husband, father and grandfather, passed
away suddenly at a Salem hospital to his heavenly home, September 4, 1999 on his 60th wedding anniversary. He
was born February 23, 1915, the youngest child of the late Levi Berdine Wade and Julia Anne Cox Wade Agnew.
He was a long time member of Painters' Union Local in Washington, D.C. He is survived by: his devoted and
loving wife of 60 years, Harriet Gravely Wade, Salem; daughter Gloria Wells, and granddaughter Kelly Wells,
Sterling, Virginia; grandson, Michael Wells and wife Joy Wells, Greenwich, Connecticut; and great grandson
Bradley Wells, Sterling. He is further survived by: sisters, Mae Wade Dickerson, Roanoke, and Winnie Wade
Turner, Roanoke. He was preceded in death by son-in-law Raymond Wells; brothers, Kerry Wade and Verman
Wade; sisters, Ima W. Wade and Reva W. Williams. Funeral services was held at Lotz Funeral Chapel, Salem on
Saturday, September 11 with interment in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Excerpted from The Floyd Press.
