Evelyn Marie Massey, 86, of Wiley, formerly of La Junta, passed away on May 6, 2014, at Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo. She was born on Nov. 3, 1927, to Chester Lee and Ida Jane (Merrill) Love. She married Arthur C. Massey on June 7, 1947, in Raton, New Mexico; he preceded her in death on Oct. 21, 2003.

Evelyn worked as a cook at the East School and she also sold insurance for Kentucky Central Insurance Company. She loved being with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed fishing and camping with her husband, Art, and her friends. She also enjoyed watching all sports in person or on TV.

Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Joy (Claude) Schultz of Wiley; Janice (Wayne) Schultz of Lamar; Janet (Bob) Repola of Fort Worth, Texas; son, Jan (Patti) Massey of Canon City, Colorado; grandchildren, Destin (Ed) Fisher, Jeffrey (Bethany) Schultz, Andrea (Tim Aguilara) Schultz, Ashley (Allen Hudgins) Schultz, Melissa (Brian) Schaefer, Ryan Massey, Ashley Stark, Vincent (Kristen) Repola, Jared (Renee) Repola; and 14 great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

A memorial service will be Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel in La Junta with Reverend Ian Blacker of the Lamar Christian Church officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lamar Area Hospice Respite Care direct or through the funeral home.
