Eugene Francis Dearing, Sr., 84, of 319 West Whitlock Avenue, Winchester, VA, and founder of Dearing Beverage Company died yesterday, April 30, 1979 in the Winchester Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 22, 1894 in Rockingham County, and was the son of the late William Thomas and Victoria Baker Dearing. He was a member of the Braddock Street United Methodist Church and the Golden Rule Bible Class. He was elected to the Winchester City Council in 1960 and served eight years.

He was Commander of the American Legion in 1945-1968; Grand Counselor in 1957 of the United Commercial Travelers of America; member of the Loyal Order of Moose; life member of B.F.O. Elks and V.F.W. He was a veteran of WWI and a member of the Winchester Hiram Lodge#21,AF & AM; John Dove Chapter #21 - Royal Arch Masons: Winchester Commandery No. 12 - Knights Templar; ACCA Temple and Rose of Sharon Priority No. 3 - Knights of the York Cross of Honor.

Surviving are his widow, the former Miss Lillian Morris; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Doris) Lewis of Woodstock, Mrs. Willard (Jo) Melton of Sacramento, CA, and Mrs. William (Esther) Marshall of Quantico; two sons, Eugene Dearing, Jr. of Winchester and Morris Dearing of Roanoke; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Morris, Miss Agnes Dearing and Mrs. Lillian Lewis, all of Elkton; and one brother, Terry Dearing of Taneytown, MD. One sister, Mrs. Charles (Nannie) Slye and one brother, Odis Dearing preceded him in death.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Omps Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. William Hough and the Rev. Waverly G. Reames. Burial will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Curtis R. Barr, Stewart Bell, Jr., Clyde Logan, Claude B. Smalts, Edward S. Moore, Alson H. Smith, R.T. Bryarly, Wiliam M. Battaile, Taylor L. Barr, and Henry Lowery.

A Masonic Service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

The family will receive friends at Omps Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 7 until 9 p.m..
