CRIER OF THE COURTS, 1742-1766

Samuel served as a private in the French and Indian War. He was a Lieutenant in the expedition against Port Royal in 1710, later promoted to Captain. He died about 1768.

"Before his marriage to Priscilla Hill, Samuel Gookin (1683-1768) had a natural son by Bethiah Grover of Watertown. This son, subsequently styled as Samuel Gookin and Samuel Gookin, Jr. was b presumably in Cambridge or Watertown about 1739." --From A History and Genealogy of the Gookin Family of England, Ireland, and America by Richard N.
