Leona May (Reagan) Wishard Layton, 71, of Everson, was called home to be with her Lord on Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. She was born May 12, 1935, in Ruffsdale, a daughter of the late Charles C. and Ruth G. (Soles) Reagan. Leona was a former member of the former Ruffsdale Southern Baptist Church, where she was the piano player for many years. She was a longtime member of the Everson Democrat Club. Leona was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and throughout the years obtained many autographed memorabilia, as well as being photographed with some of the players. She leaves
to cherish her memories, her loving and devoted son, Harry Earl Wishard and his wife, Darlene Ann (Shuba), of Hunker; her three daughters, Carmel Lynn Layton McCloy and her husband, James, of Greensburg, Brenda Lee Layton Mendicino, of Scottdale, and Charlene R. Layton Baker and her husband, John, of Everson; her 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents,
Leona was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Layton, on Nov. 17, 2001; and her son, Dana Owen Wishard, on July 23, 1979. Leona's family will greet friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME INC., 417 West Pittsburgh St., Scottdale. Her funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Keith Solomon and the Rev. Ralph A. Mostolloer co-officiating. Committal services and interment will follow in Mt Lebanon Cemetery, Tarrs.
